They say you're never fully dressed without a smile, but FW22 says you're never fully dressed without some killer accessories. Discover the top accessories trends from this season.
As the Fall Winter shows come to a close, we reflected on the fashion trends across the runways that wowed us with glittery mesh skirts, structured satin blazers, and head to toe leather (just to name a few).
But no outfit is complete without the perfect accessory, and designers this season made sure that the accessories are just as buzz-worthy as the clothes... if not more.
Some trends proved they're here to stay, like the sky high boots of last season. Here to stay, and now that much higher.
Other trends made a big splash on this season's runway, like the fluff and fuzz we saw in hats, bags, shoes and more, this trend made sure to make its mark from head to toe.
From neon fluffy shoes, to tiny bags and giant boots, the accessories of this season made sure they weren't left behind. Check out our 5 top accessory trends from Fall Winter 2022.
Baby Hobo Bags
From baby pink at Miu Miu, lavender at Givenchy, and mint green at Fendi, there’s something very noughties about the baby curved hobo, designed to fit snuggly around the shoulder. But don’t let the Y2K craze fool you, these modern versions are pocketed, strapped, chained, and monogrammed, perfect for fashion’s latest bevy of casual-cool evening looks.
Sky High Boots
They’re back for another season. Fashion’s obsession with tiny skirts also needs mile-long boots to contest with. Across the board in colours, prints, and varying textures, from the knee-high to the thigh-high, at Alberta Ferretti, Brandon Maxwell, Givenchy, Giambattista Valli and Coperni to name a few, these elegant, and kind of dangerous-looking stompers will slip perfectly under slips, coats, and mini skirts.
Evening Gloves
No black-tie event? No worries. Designer houses like Prada and Simone Rocha are proving that no winter accessory needs functional use, with statement gloves adding a touch of glamour to everyday looks, matching the sheer, cut-out, and statement coat trends. Emilia Wickstead’s collection added fuel to the satin, silk, and lace glove fire pairing them effortlessly with midi slip dresses and strapless frocks.
The Baseball Cap
America’s favourite pastime is now fashion’s favourite accessory. The low-key luxe look of street style's humble baseball cap isn’t just for the bad hair day. Leather, plaid, oversized, and embellished iterations prove this is definitely a headwear trend to take outdoors, and back indoors. As seen at Courrèges, Off White, Givenchy and Gucci. And not a Von Dutch in sight.
